My Jones is back. Here she is arriving at the airport.

Her visit centred on the wedding of her great niece, Julie (with husband, Stefan, behind her right shoulder)

at the historic farm estate of Natte Valleij, about an hour from Cape Town.

THREE GENERATIONS OF JONESES
Guests were accommodated in cottages on the estate.

Not everything ran smoothly in Barbara's absence. I had to take Mini to the vet

after Russ had nipped her (not maliciously) in a moment of excitement as strangers passed by.

And when the pantry door was jammed shut (don't ask!), there was only one way to open it.

In the park the ants have been busy after the rains. (Jones wonders whether the cones are the work of other creatures.)

The resurgent aloes suffered in the storms.

The magpies returned to the bird feeders.

And the first orchids of the season appeared in the park.

BEST WISHES JULIE AND STEFAN - TOWARDS A NEW LIFE

AND HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL THE DENIZENS OF VALAPENA
